OpenShot is a non-linear video editor built on libopenshot: multiple tracks, keyframe animation, transitions, chroma-key and title generation, driven from a Qt desktop interface. This package was last-rited from ::gentoo in 2024 (bug #909996) for two reasons, both of which the 4.x series removes: the ebuild used the deprecated distutils-r1 API, and the timeline was rendered inside dev-qt/qtwebengine:5. Release 4.0.0 rewrote the timeline in native Qt — there is not a single WebEngine reference or .html asset left under src/ — so no qtwebengine dependency is declared here. Two dependencies are deliberately not declared. dev-python/sentry-sdk drives crash reporting and is absent from ::gentoo; the application logs that it is disabled and runs normally without it, and telemetry should be something a user opts into rather than something a dependency graph installs. The ComfyUI integration new in 4.0.0 probes a local endpoint at runtime and degrades silently when nothing answers, so it needs no build-time dependency either. One dependency is less obvious than it looks: dev-python/pyqt6 must be built with USE=scxml. The application drives its UI with QStateMachine in 26 places, and pyqt6 only builds that binding — and pulls dev-qt/qtscxml — when scxml is enabled.
